作为新加坡石墨烯研究中心的领军人物,是新加坡国立大学石墨烯研究中心的核心成员与杰出化学家。罗建平教授领导研究团队取得了丰硕的成果,其中包括研发了大尺寸石墨烯的仿生生长与转移技术,后续开拓了大尺寸石墨烯的商业化应用;同时,他致力于新一代的半导体研发,实现了石墨烯量子点与高张力石墨烯的可控合成;首次研制成功的世界最薄的石墨烯宽波段偏振器等。罗建平教授在新加坡国立大学完成学士学习之后,赴牛津大学深造并于1996年取得博士学位。2007年罗建平教授荣获学院青年科学家及新加坡国立大学青年学者称,他于2010年被评为学院首席教授。目前,罗教授被聘任为新加坡国立大学化学系主任。至今为止,罗教授已经发表超过200篇SCI论文,其中包括Nature, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Chemistry, Nature Photonics, Journal of American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie, Nanoletters, Advanced Materials等。学术任职上,罗教授目前是美国化学会期刊-- Chemistry of Materials副主编,Materials Horizon 和Diamond and Related Materials 的科学编委以及Advanced Functional Materials的学术顾问. 2013,他赢得了美国化学会 (ACS) NANO lectureship 奖。同时,他也是英国皇家化学会的成员。
